In a world without activists like Enu, migrant domestic workers in Lebanon would have nowhere to go when they’re alone and exploited.

When Enu arrived in Lebanon from Ethiopia, she became a domestic worker. She was forced to sign a contract in a foreign language, and her employer took her passport. After working three years without a single day off, she escaped. But many other workers remain trapped, facing physical and emotional abuse and sexual harassment.

Enu and several other migrant domestic workers founded Egna Legna to make sure that no domestic worker felt helpless again. Today, they provide migrant domestic workers with mental health counseling and training to end abuse—despite threats of arrest or deportation.

The Fund for Global Human Rights supports and protects the world’s activists.

Each year, we give grassroots activists in more than 60 countries the funds, training, and tools they need. With our support, activists take on human rights violations in their local community, change laws, and win landmark cases.

We support groups that others can’t reach. And we work to keep them safe. Because we believe that the world needs activists more than ever.
