In a world without activists like Fernanda, abortion would still be a crime in Mexico.

Fernanda leads advocacy at Elige, a group dedicated to expanding young people’s access to reproductive education and care. Following a landmark Supreme Court win in September decriminalizing abortion, Fernanda and her fellow feminists are working to make sure that states respect the ruling and federal health services strengthen access to abortion.

But Fernanda’s work is still needed. Youth in Mexico still struggle to have comprehensive, fact-based sexual health education. Reproductive services are often inaccessible in rural communities. And misinformation still leads women to believe they can face penalties for abortion.

The Fund for Global Human Rights supports and protects the world’s activists.

Each year, we give grassroots activists in more than 60 countries the funds, training, and tools they need. With our support, activists take on human rights violations in their local community, change laws, and win landmark cases.

We support groups that others can’t reach. And we work to keep them safe. Because we believe that the world needs activists more than ever.
