Throughout her distinguished career, Gabriela has been a vocal champion of justice and human rights. From working alongside children and communities affected by conflict in her native Colombia to calling out global inequality onstage at the World Economic Forum in Davos, she has fiercely advocated for the rights of vulnerable or marginalized people everywhere. Gabriela is fluent in Spanish, English, and French, and has worked in Colombia, Panama, and the UK—where she currently resides.
Gara LaMarche, a Fund board member who chaired the global search committee for the Fund’s new CEO, said:
Our committee saw a very strong field of candidates from all over the world, and Gabriela emerged as the leader we need for the Fund’s next chapter. We were drawn to Gabriela’s deep human rights, feminist and antiracist values, her managerial experience, and a collegial and consultative style very much in sync with the Fund’s terrific staff and partners in the regions in which we work.
Our fight for global human rights just gained an amazing champion. Please join us in welcoming Gabriela to the Fund!
